We are pleased to announce the delivery of Siem Confucius to Siem Car Carriers, marking the introduction of the world’s first deep-sea LNG-powered car carrier.

Built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry in China, the Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) measures approximately 200 metres in length and 38 metres in beam, with capacity for 7,500 car equivalent units (CEU) across 13 cargo decks.

Siem Confucius is the first of two sister vessels built for Volkswagen Group’s vehicle transportation requirements. She will enter the transatlantic service, replacing conventional fuel-powered tonnage. An LNG bunkering agreement with Shell will support operation on LNG throughout her voyages.

The vessel has been financed through a Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option (JOLCO) structure arranged by Crédit Agricole CIB, in accordance with the Green Loan Principles and supported by a second-party opinion from DNV GL.

The delivery represents a significant milestone for Seven Yield, combining investment in LNG propulsion with long-term employment in the vehicle carrier sector.
